Private and religious school positions aren't tracked separately by BLS, but they draw on the same talent pool as public K-12 education, a sector that generates around 103,800 elementary-level openings annually. Christian schools often move quickly when they find the right candidate: someone whose faith aligns with the school's mission and whose teaching credentials are solid.
A Christian school cover letter has two audiences: the administrator reading for instructional qualifications, and the same administrator reading for cultural and spiritual fit. Your credentials matter, state certification or equivalent, subject endorsements, classroom experience. So does your ability to describe how your faith shapes your teaching without sounding rehearsed. Skip phrases like "passionate about integrating faith and learning." Instead, describe something specific: a unit where you connected curriculum content to biblical principles, or how your classroom culture reflects the school's values in daily practice.
Different schools have distinct emphases, a Catholic school, a nondenominational evangelical school, and a classical Christian school each have different cultures and expectations. Research the school's doctrinal statement and curriculum model before you write. If there's language in their mission that genuinely resonates with how you approach teaching, reference it. Administrators at faith-based schools recognize immediately when an applicant has done this work and when they haven't. Careerflow's cover letter tool can generate a foundation to build from.
