QA Engineer with 6+ years testing web applications and REST APIs across manual, automated, and exploratory approaches. Built an automation suite from zero to 780 tests covering 84% of critical paths, cut escaped defects from 19 to 4 per release, and shortened the regression cycle from 5 days to 8 hours. Works close to developers and reports defects that get fixed rather than argued about.
Coursework in Software Engineering, Databases, Operating Systems, and Web Technologies.
Holds Foundation and Advanced Test Analyst certifications; completed an AWS Cloud Practitioner course in 2023.
- Own testing for a web platform serving 120,000 monthly users, working alongside 2 development teams on a two-week release cadence.
- Built a Playwright automation suite from zero to 780 tests covering 84% of critical user paths, running on every pull request in under 12 minutes.
- Cut escaped defects from 19 to 4 per release over 18 months by adding API contract tests and a risk-based regression selection process.
- Tested checkout and payment flows across 6 browsers and 4 device profiles for a store processing about 9,000 orders a day.
- Reduced the regression cycle from 5 days to 8 hours by automating 240 previously manual test cases in Selenium.
- Found and documented 3 payment-path defects during a pre-launch exploratory session that would have affected roughly 12% of transactions.
- Executed and maintained a manual test suite of 460 cases across 3 product modules, reporting an average of 40 defects per release.
- Introduced Postman collections for 90 API endpoints, catching 14 contract breaks before they reached the front-end team.
- Rewrote 180 test cases into a clearer given-when-then format, cutting new tester onboarding from 4 weeks to 2.
Playwright Automation Suite. Designed and built the test framework from scratch with page objects, fixture-based test data, and parallel execution in CI. Grew to 780 tests at 84% critical path coverage while keeping the full run under 12 minutes.
Flake Reduction Initiative. Instrumented the suite to record failure causes, then fixed the top 5 sources of nondeterminism including implicit waits and shared test data. Flaky failures fell from 11% of runs to under 1%, restoring team trust in the pipeline.
API Contract Test Layer. Added JSON schema validation across 90 endpoints, wired into the pull request pipeline. Contract breaks now fail before merge, and 14 were caught in the first quarter that would previously have surfaced in integration.
- Maintain an open-source Playwright utility library with roughly 900 weekly downloads, reviewing community pull requests monthly.
- Speak at Bay Area testing meetups twice a year, most recently on reducing flaky tests, to audiences of 40 to 80.
- Volunteer as a code reviewer for a bootcamp capstone program, reviewing about 15 student projects each cohort.
- Mentor 2 junior QA engineers through weekly pairing sessions, both of whom now own automation for their own feature areas.
- Introduced the definition of done for testing that 2 development teams adopted, making automated coverage a merge requirement.
- Led the migration from Selenium to Playwright across 240 tests, completing it in 7 weeks with no gap in regression coverage.
