Latency Reduction. Profiled the payments API to find that most tail latency came from 6 uncached lookups rather than the database as assumed. Adding targeted caching and reworking those paths cut p99 from 890 milliseconds to 140.
Monolith Decomposition. Led extraction of 9 services from a monolith over 2 years, sequenced by team ownership and data boundaries rather than technical convenience. Delivery continued throughout, and no extended feature freeze was needed.
Availability Programme. Removed 3 single points of failure, added circuit breakers on 8 downstream calls, and rehearsed failover quarterly. Availability rose from 99.5% to 99.97%, which for payments is the difference between acceptable and not.
