Writing a pharmaceutical sales representative cover letter

Pharmaceutical sales falls under the technical and scientific sales category, where the BLS cites a median annual salary of $100,070 and roughly 142,100 openings per year across the broader wholesale sales field. Pharma specifically is a competitive market, territories are valuable, compensation is strong, and companies are selective about who represents them to prescribers.

Lead your letter with territory performance. Quota attainment percentage, total prescriptions influenced, ranking versus peers, whatever metric your current or past employer tracks, put it in the first paragraph. Then connect that performance to your approach: how you build relationships with prescribers, how you navigate formulary conversations, how you position your product against alternatives without crossing compliance lines.
